James Clark Benham died in Camden on Feb. 24, 1922 and is buried there in Camden Cemetery. He was born in New York in 1837. Am descended from his daughter from his first marriage. Would like to make contact with descendants of his second marriage. J.C. Benham was a store keeper, pharmacist or a teacher.
I am unaware of any index for obits that covers that time frame. Not sure how far back the Blissfield papers go. Adrian Daily Telegram (and papers covering Adrian with slightly different names) does go back that far, but, it is a real tough time frame for obits/death notices. Sometimes we get lucky and find a huge obit, usually we get, Uncle Morris died in Riga, he leaves a large family. BLAHHHHHHHHH :-((((( A search of the local papers may find an obit, a search would need to cover at least a week after the date of death, and every column and word of the paper would have to be read, they sure did not make it easy for us in that time frame. That is interesting about the death record, did you get that from the county clerk??? or is that from headstone readings?? Hope that helps some, Carol On 30 Jul 2006 09:17:22 -0600, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Morris > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mFB.2ACE/2776 > > Message Board Post: > > Would anyone who knows local resources have any advice on how to find an > obituary for my Thomas MORRIS who died 1887 in Riga Township, Lenawee Co, > MI? Hi; On 27 July 1869 a Carrie B. Schmidt was born in Tecumseh, Michigan. (according to her marriage record in Warren, Ohio). Her father a Frederick C. Schmidt born 07 March 1832 Kurhessen, Germany and mother a Caroline Maier born 15 Nov 1832 Marbach area of Wuerttemberg Germany . Carrie's siblings younger and older than she where all born in the Warren Ohio area. She is the only one born in Michigan. I am not sure of the reason and exact date after 1867 her mother and father had temporarlly moved to Michigan. I think very possibility to visit relatives and also possibly to obtain employment . He was always a factory type wood worker. They where noted back in the Warren, Ohio area on the 1870 Ohio Census . Questions; I have no idea where Frederick and Caroline where married at ? possible 11 January 1857? Is there a list to check for the area? Is there a Michigan Birth record available for Carrie ? I am looking for Relatives of Frederick C. Schmidt ? The 1900 census gives a possible Immigration date of about 1848 at about age 16. the birth date and place came from an old family records On some Ohio records and census he and family went as Frederick Smith. Also I am also looking for relatives of Caroline Maier, the 1900 census gives a possible immigration date of about 1854 for her the name of her father and mother;( from death certificate and her gravestone in Warren) was Christian and Fredericka Maier . I really know anything about the Maiers and if they ever changed the spelling of the last name. Thanks Dave Barberton, Ohio

just where did they live in 1930??? If it was in Wayne or Oakland County, you might be better served to post to one of those lists. There were a number of people (still are) that worked for Fords and drove over the county lines to work. But, it really helps us to help you if you can tell us where they lived, specifically, like Adrian, Lenawee County. Good luck in your research. you might try starting here http://www.geocities.com/lenaweemi/cemetery.html there are several links to follow, lots of cemetery data. including this one: http://www.geocities.com/lenaweemi/cemalist.html which shows only one cemetery with similar name. Some cemeteries here in Lenawee have a number of names, one family will call it one thing, another family another thing, the name was changed over the years, it can be very confusing and frustrating. good luck in your research On 25 Jul 2006 07:57:20 -0600, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Carpenter > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mFB.2ACE/2771 > > Message Board Post: > > Does anyone know if these two cemetery names are used for the same > cemetery in Lenawee County or if they are two separate cemeteries in > different towns in Lenawee?
