    1. CASE: Charles and Sarah (Ferrin) Case, Ontario Co., NY, to Onsted, MI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Case, Ferrin, Ward, Flowers, Drayn Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mFB.2ACE/2791 Message Board Post: Charles Case married Sarah Ferrin at some time before 1908 in Ontario County, NY and relocated to Onsted, MI. I am particularly interested in Sarah as she was a much older first cousin to my mother. This is what little else I know about her: - born in 1880 to Harrison Ferrin and Eliza Ward Ferrin - sister of Lewis; half sister of Clara May Flowers and Frank Ferrin, Irving Ferrin, Charles Ferrin, and Mary Jane Ferrin Briggs - granddaughter of William and Sarah Ward of Cheshire, Ontario County, NY Information concerniing this marriage to Charles Case was not passed down in the family. I learned of it from a newspaper clippng (1908) that I found on the internet. What was passed down was a marriage (second?) to a Hugh Cummings and relocation to Phoenix, Arizona. I am interested in learning more about Sarah Case Ferrin: children, details concerning death of Charles and her remarriage to Hugh, etc. Census entries (1910 possibly 1900, 1920) might provide some of the desired infprmation. It confirms the information that I had pieced together from a couple of other sources and maps. I hadn't thought about the Luptons being buried on the farm or of the location of Joseph Binn's farm being in the location that the graves are located. I did know they were living with the Binns in the 1870; Joseph was their son-in-law.

A couple cemeteries are indicated on the 1874 plat map (indicated by a "+" symbol) nearby. But, some people were buried in a favorite spot on the family farm. These graves often ended up being farmed over and if the headstones weren't moved to a larger cemetery, they were "lost". http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~keller/lenawee/work/woodstock74.html

The cemetery I was trying to pinpoint is off of US 127, according to Harriet Cole's Gravestone Records of Lenawee County, Michigan, Vol. 2, 1938. I received a message yesterday from a woman who gave me a fairly specific location regarding it. There are only two graves in it, so as a cemetery, it hardly meets the definition. They were the graves of Gideon and Susannah Lupton, Quakers from Ohio. I'm trying to determine the historical reasons for why they are by themselves though. I do appreciate your help and maybe the location you posted will come in handy.

Michigan. An old picture album was purchased many years ago containing old photos of members of Slater family. Some of the photos were taken in Ohio, not far distant. I have found a few names of Slaters who lived in the area starting in the 1860's. The photo book is dated early 1880's. Only the name Slater exists in the book, no given names. 1870 Census shows William, Mercy, Walter and Cordelia 1900 Esther (Fairfield) & James, Martha Mercy are in Adrian Best guess is this is Esther's album 1910 James Walter Emily and Earl are in Adrian Any clues will help. Owner would like to return the album to the family. It was purchased at an antique store more than 30 years ago near Fairfield MI

Go here: http://www.geocities.com/lenaweemi/ find link to cemeteries: http://www.geocities.com/lenaweemi/cemetery.html towards bottom of page, find link to Library of Michigan, Michigan cemeteries do a search, Monroe County, Look for the Catholic cemetery Saint Alphonse's (Saint Alphonsus'), Summerfield Township, THAT IS THE CATHOLIC CEMETERY FOR DEERFIELD CATHOLIC CHURCH! this link may take you directly there, not sure it will work: http://michigancemeteries.libraryofmichigan.org/cemeterydetail.aspx?cemeteryid=3759 I have had people argue with me about the location of this cemetery, it is about 1/2 mile out of Lenawee County, but it IS the burial ground for that church, and the church IS located in Deerfield. 3. Madison township, was founded in about 1827, it was originally named Lenawee, was renamed Madison in 1838. Seems they frequently called a township a town. Not sure bout why, but have seen it done a number of times. hope that helps.
