SACKNER DIES; WAS 73 FENTON NATIVE WAS PRESIDENT OF SACKNER PRODUCTS WADE E. SACKNER, President of SACKNER PRODUCTS COMPANY, formerly GRAND RAPIDS FIBRE CORD COMPANY, died early Wednesday afternoon in Blodgett Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was 73. Mr. Sackner had contributed many inventions in association with products of the company, and was a noted sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. He lived at 2759 Leonard Rd. NW. WAS BANK DIRECTOR A native of Fenton, Mr. Sackner came to Grand Rapids as a child. For 25 years he worked here and in Chicago in the wood and copper engraving business. He organized the Grand Rapids Fibre Cord Company in 1916. The name was changed last year. He was a Director of the Peoples National Bank and had been, from 1932 to 1934, a Director of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. He was a Past President of the Grand Rapids Exchange Club and had been Vice President of Highlands Country Club. Long active in Masonic affairs, Mr. Sackner held the 32nd degree and had been Potentate of Saladin Shrine. He was a member of Grand River Lodge, DeWitt Clinton Consistory, and of the Jesters. He also was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Other memberships included the Peninsular Club, Rotary Club, Spring Lake Yacht Club, Green Ridge Country Club and Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club. Mr. Sackner leaves his wife, VIOLA, and a brother, JOHN W. SACKNER of Vanderhoof, B.C. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Metcalf Mortuary, with Dr. Lester A.
