He was born in Findlay, OH on October 6, 1979. He was a 1998 graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. He married his bride, Rachel (Fraaza) Vander Hart, on October 20, 2006. He is also survived by his parents, Al and Ginny Vander Hart; brothers, Jeff and Sarah, Mike and friend Lysandra Porritt; niece and nephews, Grace, Luke and Adam Vander Hart; his father-in-law, Gordon Fraaza; brother-in-law, James and Ashlee Fraaza; sister-in-law, Rebecca and friend Ben Rutgers, and grandparents, Case and Rachel Vander Hart and Erma Ralston. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ruthanne Fraaza; grandparents, Lester and Johanna Pothoven; grandparents, Robert and Helen Fraaza, and grandfather, William Ralston. Doug worked for New Life Transport. He loved people. He gave himself generously to friends and strangers, he was a big man with an even bigger heart, always responding to the needs of others. F! uneral services will be held Thursday at 7 PM at Ada Bible Church, 8899 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Peter Jonker and Rev. Dave Jansen officiating. Visitation will be held at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, Wednesday from 4 to 9 PM and Thursday 6 to 7 PM prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Kids Hope USA or Habitat for Humanity. These represent Doug's love for children and tools for building to help others!
