Owen DODGE and Philo WOLCOTT, witnesses. 5:50 I'm not sure about Fred but this was a definitely a second marriage for Phebe as she was divorced from her first husband, Lyman Bloss, by whome she had at least eight children. NOTE: The Philo Wolcott who witnessed the marriage was Phebe's nephew. In the 1870 USC, the couple can be found as follows: 1870 US Census for Gaines Twp., Kent Co., MI Taken 14 July, 1870 Page Number: 186R Dwelling Number: 185 Family ID Number: 190 Reference Number: 12 12. Bassett, Frederick, age 60, male, white, farmer, real estate valued at $2000, personal estate valued at $400, born New York, male citizen of 21 years of age and upwards 13. Bassett, Phebe, age 56, female, white, keeping house, born New York NOTE: They are enumerated living next door to John and Lucena Wolcott. (Lucena was Phebe's younger sister.) Although I have thoroughly checked both the GENDIS and Seeking Michigan websites, I cannot seem to locate MI death records for either Fred or Phebe.
