She was born on February 24, 1922 in Reno, MI to Earl and Florence (Fields) Starks. She worked at GM Fisher Body Plant # 2 in Grand Rapids from 1952 until her retirement in 1965. She loved to fish, play cards, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the North Kent Eagles Auxiliary, Sparta Moose Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Lake City, MI. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles R. Holtzlander and her second husband, Clair Nelson; seven brothers and one daughter-in-law. She is survived by her children, Nancy and Bill Arends of Mt. Pleasant, Charles and Nancy Holtzlander of Jacksonville, FL, Keith Holtzlander of Sparta, Gordon and Karen Holtzlander of Cedar Springs; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Aletha Coon of Paris, MI, Donna Bevins of Grand Rapids, Lois Allen of De! troit; brother-in-law, David Holtzlander of Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Pat Holtzlander, Mary Holtzlander, Adeline Starks, Mary Ann Bies all of Grand Rapids, Carolyn King of Sparta; special friend and companion, Walter Proctor and his wonderful extended family; her step children from Clair Nelson; many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 31, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dan VanBelzen officiating. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may meet the family at the funeral home on Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or The Ronald McDonald House.
