Surnames: Weirich, Arnold, Peterman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kFB.2ACE/4091 Message Board Post: Grand Rapids Daily Eagle, April 2, 1887 Peter Weirich Peter Weirich, who died at his home on West Bridge street yesterday, had upward of thirty years been identified with the business and social interests of that part of the city. He was a native of Prussia, born near Coblentz, Jan. 18, 1831. At 21 years of age he came to America, and in 1853 to Grand Rapids, which has since been his home. He built up and managed the business of the "Michigan Brewery", and won financial success, becoming the owner of several business blocks, and was a director in the Fifth National Bank. He had a wide acquaintance among all of whom he was esteemed as an enterprising citizen and a good neighbor and friend. He married in 1856 Josephine Arnold, a native of Austria, who died in 1875, and again married May Peterman, also an Austrian by birth. The latter survives to mourn his decease, as do four daughters and a son. Mr. Weirich had several offices of trust and responsiblity -- six years as member from the eight ward of the Common Council. He w! as also a prominent member of several social organizations, of the Arbeiter and Turner Societies and of Doric Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons.
