Jacob DeZeeuw and Ada (Teitsma) DeZeeuw had a daughter Barbara born in Mich. in 1889. Jacob and Ada were from the Netherlands. I'd like to find out WHEN and WHERE Jacob and Ada were married (US or Netherlands) and the parents of Jacob and Ada. I'm wondering if any of this information would be in the 1910 census for MIichigan OR in either of Jacob's or Ada's death certificates. I'm not sure if this is my Jacob, but a Jacob DeZeeuw has an obit from the Grand Rapids Press dated 20June1930. That's the date, but I don't have the actual obit. Thanks, Barbara Koop

Hi Barbara, From the 1900 census you will find the month and year of birth for each person, the place of birth (i. e. if born in the U.S., the state in which born, if born in another country, usually only the name of the country.) the year of immigration, the number of years married and under the mother's information - the number of children born and the number of children living in 1900. For the 1910 census about the only difference is instead of month and year of birth, they only mention the age of the person. You would need the death records for names of parents. The Western Michigan Genealogical Society does research at the Grand Rapids Public Library for $15.00 an hour. They could look at the Indexes for marriages and for deaths for Kent County. They also will look up and print an obituary for $5.00. www.wmgs.org I hope this is helpful.
