Hello. I would really appreciate a few lookups on my ancestors in Kent County, Michigan in the late 1800's. John Hart is my ggggrand father. I have not discovered what happened to him though I would suspect he passed away in Lowell after 1880. Here is what I already know: John Hart or Hartt was the son of Jonathan and Jemima Phillips, who lived in New Brunswick in the early 1800s. He was born approx. 1811 1814. His siblings, as documented at the website, http://www.myhartt.com/families/jonathan_and_jemina_hartt.htm Were in Saginaw and Ionia County, in the mid 1800s. John was in Lowell, Kent County, Michigan from the mid to late 1800s. There are land records available showing he owned land in Walker township in Kent County, Michigan in 1852 and 1854. He married Hannah Elizabeth Ecker who was born approx 1826 1827, in Canada. Though the 1870 Census found John and Hannah together, in the 1880 Census, John is enumerated alone in Lowell. Though both are listed as married, his wife, Hannah Hart is enumerated with her sister Henrietta and Henriettas husband, Joseph Hall, in Lowell. Also, Johns sister, Deborah, married a French. Many of Johns siblings are in Michigan at this time. Some are in Ontario. John Hartt was born 1811 or 1814 according to the 1880/70 Fed. Census He married Hannah Elizabeth Ecker (b.1827) as they appear on the 1870 Fed. Census They had two children - Sarah (b.1857, d.1922), Joseph (b.1859) 1850 John Hartt of Canada bought lot 22 in Walker Tp., MI from Conrod & Anna Phillips 1853 John Hartt bought lot 505 in Grand Rapids 1853 Hanna Elizabeth Hartt bought lot 1/2 of 494 in Grand Rapids 1854 John Hartt/Michael Ecker (father of Hannah?) bought property in Lowell Tp. 1855 John Hartt is listed as a founding member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Lowell 1880 Fed. Census lists John Hartt w/o family 1891 John Hartt listed in Baxter's List of Names for Grand Rapids That's about it. Any information that you could find on this family thread would be vastly appreciated !! Especially John and Hannah Hart. Thank you in advance.... As far as I understand they would have to register the deaths at the county clerk of the county they died in, but who knows! I did not find a record for Johannes Bronkema either....sorry. Let me know if you have any other ideas. BOIJKEMA is an alternate spelling and found in the 1884 state census of Michigan. I am also looking for the death record of Johannes BRONKEMA who died between 1880 and 1884, also in Georgetown. He is from the Netherlands as well. I believe they probably filed the death records in Grand rapids because it was closer. Thank you very much for your offer. You may have looked for me a few years ago. My computer had numerous crashes this last year and I lost nearly all of my information. I know the idea was to report in your county, but in those days, many of them reported in the county closest to them. Berend's wife was reported in Kent county. Bronkema might be in Ottawa though. His wife died and was reported in Ottawa. Thank you again for trying again! Hello, So what you are hoping to find is the death location and maybe burial location of John Hart and Hannah (Ecker) Hart...is that correct? I know I looked for you a couple years ago, but the John information I sent was not the correct John. I don't remember if there were any other Johns with death records at that time, I could look again. You already have his parents' names right? I was just wondering if there was something particular you were hoping to find...
