It is german and could also be spelled Breundl or Brundl with an umlet on the "u". There are several people in Austria, Germany and Canada with the name. I believe it means brook or small brook in german. The name is also donauschwabian; germans that migrated from Germany and settled in different countries along the Danube, like Hungary, Croatia. I am interested in tracing where in Germany or Austria the name originates from.
