Mr. DeRoo joined the Grand Rapids fire dept in l926 and retired in l952. He was stationed at Engine House #l. Born in the Netherlands Mr. DeRoo moved with his family to Kalamazoo when he was 3 years old. Later they moved to Grand Rapids. Mr. DERoo went to Califonia last September. Survivers are 3 sons Alan Jr of Grand Rapids; charles of Bridgeport, connecticut and Robert of Redwood California; 2 daughters Mrs. Dale Barnett and Mrs. James Brooks both of Grand Rapids. a brother John of Goleta, California a sister Mrs. Steve Philips and l2 grandchildren. Runeral arrangements by Vanthof DeMeester Funeral home. the paper of the 20th press Tues. lists the funeral on Thursday at l.30 for Mr. DeRoo. Helen Ringer Kent Co Mich.
