    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Almy, Davenport Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kFB.2ACE/5692.3.2 Message Board Post: I just found a bio for Alphonzo W. Almy and see where he comes from -not connected to the Almy line I have been working on. Hard to tell with the name game getting in the way; the Thomas I do know about and who was also in Kent Co. was born about the same time as Alphonzo but in a different location in NY. The Thomas I know was there in Kent Co. 1870 and who d. there about 1885 lived in Cortland, Nelson Twp. He had a wife Almira and a son Alonzo - unfortunately, the surname has often been shown on census as "Alma" which throws one off if trying to do a search. (Especially on Ancestry which is so frequently incorrect in transcriptions, anyway.) I am so glad you mentioned Alphonzo in your last message - I was able to find him in a History of Kent county, now accessible through the Kent co. Genweb site. Alphonzo is a son of Peleg Almy and they are not my ancestors and not connected to the Almy/Davenport mystery back in Seneca/Tompkins Counties, NY. Oh well, the mystery c! ontinues - thank you so much for your time and help. Will hang onto the information you found because it might come in handy for the next person who contacts me.
