Nov. 6, 1939, Detroit, Mich. -- who was was married to Ellen Jane Bates (Nellie), b. 1851 (?); d. July 20, 1933. They had at least 2 daughters, Maude Ellen Chapman b. July 20, 1877 (?); d. Aug. 11, 1964 (she didn't want anyone to really know her real age--she was my gggrandmother) who married Clyde Eugene Servis b. Sept. 5, 1879 Ionia, Mich.; d. Mar. 6, 1945 Lincoln Park, MI at my grandmother's house. Hattie Chapman was Maude's sister. Ellen's parents were: George Bates and Sarah Smith who married in England.
