Then, fortunately for me, a very kind person living in the area my grandfather came from ( Friesland), jumped on board and helped me sort out the language, the people and the history of my Koopman(s) family, as well as finding the actual documents for birth, marriage, death. When my husband and I visited Franeker, where my grandfather was born, we were surprised to see a street named (Rientz or Rienks) Koopmans. The family dropped the ending s after immigration.
