I'm not even sure of his death date. It sounded like he was alive in 1854 when his wife died-yet unsure of even that. I am trying to find his death date & place, when where who his children married & when where they died. They are not listed in the Detroit or Wayne County 1830-1840 or 1850 census. It was suggested they maybe moved to another area or county. Have searched PRDH, Ancestry, Family Search, Rootsweb, Drouin, Jette, Tanquay, Loiselle, Denissens Books ,FTM & Contacted many individuals. All say same thing-Cannot connect with their ancestry. Any help on BENOIT family much appreciated. Charles Benoit S/O: Michel Benoit & Josette Lemire-- was b abt 1796 supposedly in Malden--Ontario??--England?? Do not know. He married 1822 at Assomption Sandwich Windsor Ontario to Marie Archange Meloche. Children: PETER/PIERRE? b. 1823 Ontario m. Theotiste Cabanac who died after a few short years. SOPHIE-b. 1824 Assomption Parish Ontario MATHILDA b. Oct 1826 Detroit Mich m. Moses St Antoine --Where/When--Know was before July 1849. Have you checked the Index to the 1850 Federal Census for Michigan? If they were in Michigan, it should give you a county to work with. Kathy, I checked the early cemetery records for Kent County and there were no BENOIT's.
