Hildreth may be the one I am searching for that lived in Skowhegan Maine in 1850 -1853. Some info in addition to this bio: The bio states "Mr, H.has a son, William C., by a previous marriage." The 1850 Skowhegan Census shows a Cyrus Chapin Hildreth (age 30 b. NH) with wife Elizabeth (age 29 b. Mass.) and son William C. (age 6 b. NY). He works as a "Joiner". This looks like he is living with first wife at this time. This bio also has an error. It states: "He was married in Maine to Betsey L., daughter of Capt. David and Betsey (LOVEJOY) STURGESS." and then goes on to refer to her as "Mrs. Sturgess" with "eight children from a former marriage". STURGESS would have been her original Surname, not her married name. The 1860 Census for Wyoming, MI shows Cyrus, Betsey and William C., along with her children: Joseph H. TARTELL, Viola D. TARTELL, and Georgiana H. TARTELL. A search on the LDS site lists a marriage of a Cyrus C. HILDRITH to a Betsy L. TARBELL in Somerset ME 19 OCT 1852. I have not researched the TARBELL/TARTELL family any further, not have I looked for his first wife's name or history. I have a handsigned letter from Cyrus C. HILDRETH of Bloomfield, Somerset, ME dated 9 MAR 1853 listing his intent to go to the goldmines in Australia. Looks like he didn't get there.
