Message #3 You can find the text for Albert Baxter's 1891 History of the City of Grand Rapids on the Kent County GenWeb site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikent This is the main page, right after Resources, you will see the histories listed, click on Baxter's and there are all of the chapters of the book that have been transcribed. You will need to check the index to decide which chapter holds the pages you are interested in. As for Goss', you can go to the same URL and click on books and you will find the information to go to the University of Michigan which has both the Baxter's, Goss' and other early Michigan county histories. When you get to the site, click on the button that says Search/or Browse County Histories, then choose Authors, type in the authors name, and the books that the author has done will come up. You can click on the book you want, then find the pages you are interested in. If you want to, you can print the pages you want so that you have a copy of the page. Is this plain enough? Sometimes it's hard to explain things when a person hasn't done them. Evelyn, Thank you for posting this. As I recall you helped me another time. I am always very happy when an ancestor of mine lands in MI as the help and records are outstanding.
