I went to school with the Wiers family who lived on Wendler. Their grandparents/or uncle actually lived on Roos, a block to the east of Galewood (formerly Mulder.) The corner of their lot actually touched the back corner of my parent's property on Burton St. The Ed Wiers that died July 1975, he's buried in Grandville Cemetery and was born 1889 & lived in Grandville. The Ed I'm looking for was born 1899. I have his WWI registration information. It's possible that Eddie Wiers who died in 1979 might be who I'm looking for. I believe there was a third Edward Wiers in the early 1900's census's, who was the son of Henry (Henrick) Wiers. When doing a search on the name on Ancestry all three popped up at the same time so I knew there were three different men with the same name, different birth years. I think the son of Henry would probably be too old to have been the Ed I'm looking for. Thank you for your help in this. Born in Lucas, Ohio. Divorced. Living at 21 Lamberton Ave. when she died. Buried on 1 April 1944. Spouse: Frank Hunter. Father: James Ross, born in Lucas, Ohio. Mother: Amanda Hughes, born in Newville, Ohio. Carrie E. Ross had siblings: Sherman, Blanche and Ira F. Her parents married in Richland on 26 September 1861. 1930 Census shows her as divorced living at 26 Lamberton in Mansfield: Carrie R. Hunter (her maiden name of Ross was first written in then crossed out and replaced with her married name of Hunter). The address is the same as her parents were living in in the 1900 census. There was a Frank W. Hunter, born in Evansville (Ind.?), married 5 April 1904 in Homer, Calhoun Co., MI., to Arlie M. Henshaw. Also a Frank W. Hunter, born in Ohio, married 17 Sept. 1901 in Saint Joseph, Berrien Co., MI., to Grace Patterson McGlenn. I'll try to find the right Frank Hunter but there are many in Ohio and Michigan. Does the marriage record from Richland Co., give the names of the parents of Frank Hunter? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. During conversations, we've talked about people of the neighborhood that I haven't thought about in years. Conversation keeps going back to an old guy who lived in the neighborhood, who's name was Ed. Ed walked everywhere he went. He was poor, lived in a house with no running water. He always wore a hat & I remember him wearing an old coat and carrying groceries or items in a bag. We'd stand at the fence as he'd walk by and we'd yell, "Hi Ed." He'd always wave and sometimes walk through the neighbor's yard, come to the fence & talk for a second. My cousin, remembers that he'd go every night to her grandmother's and she'd give him a bucket of water & leftovers from her table. I remember the house being torn down. I think he lived next to the HALL family, who lived there during the 1960s and early 70s. Last night she mentioned that she couldn't remember his last name and the name Wiers popped into my head and after some searches, there was an Edward Wiers who lived in Wyoming. My question to the message board is, does anyone out there possibly remember him or what his name was? I'd like to know more about him. Thanks.
