His death certificate (where his name is written as "John VanderWald") states he was born on 2 December 1870 (unsure if that is correct) in the Netherlands. His father's name is listed as "Hurke VanderWald". He died of typhoid fever and shock. It states he was married at age 22 and had 3 children. His address at time of death was "121 Hilton" in Grand Rapids. You can look at his death certificate online at: http://seekingmichigan.cdmhost.com/seeking_michigan/seek_advanced.php Make sure you type the name "Vanderwald" to get the right certificate. His widow, Anna Bont, remarried on 21 September 1904 in Grand Rapids. I do not believe that John (Jan) and Anna were born in the province of Friesland. I believe both were born in the province of Groningen (although the 1900 cenus states that Anna was born in Michigan). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My problem is that James C Troy and James M Troy, cousins, are both said to have married Margaret Kilmartin and had kids of about the same names and ages. I'm starting to think maybe that's right. Margaret would have only been about 25 when James C died and perhaps she then married his cousin, James M. The children were Mary Troy that married Jacob Hefner, Joanna "Anna" Troy that married William L Hall and Edmund Troy that married Isabell "Belle" Baker. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I had the Martin CO. Info--My Ggrandfather is a bro to David Baker. However, Eula's mother is Rebecca McCave. I'm sorry that I don't have any more info on her at this time--she had died before 1880 and Eula did not like her step-mother--that caused the trip north. I greatly appreciate your wonderful help and hope you have a great week and a Wonderful Merry Christmas. It really took very little time. One more thing. In the 1880 census in Halbert, Martin County, Indiana, Eula is living with her widowed father, David, and David's parents. Their names are Jesse K. and Easter (possibly Esther) Baker. Jesse was born around 1814 in Kentucky. His parents were both born in Kentucky. Occupation, farmer. Easter was born about 1822 in Kentucky. Her parents were also born in Kentucky. I think that's all I can find. Good luck on your further searches.
