    3. Here are my Michigan surnames. My MI forbears came from Ontario, MA and NY. In 1904 my ggrandparents, Burtis and Amrett (Van Wyck) Hoag left Cannonburg for Whittier CA. They were joined there by his sister, Ann Eliza (Hoag) Hartwell and his brother William Hoag and their respective spouses and families. Here are my surnames: Ezekial Smith m. Polly Packard of Adrian Moses Baker m. Cynthia White of Lenawee Polly Smith m. John Baker of Lenawee Burtis Warren Hoag m. Phebe Raymer of Kent Co. Lorenzo Dow Hoag m. My great-grandfather was Philip T. Baranowski came to Manitowoc County from Michigan shortly after the turn of the century sometime and had a mill. He was born in the Grand Rapids area. Philip T. was the son of Martin Baranowski who was the son of Joseph Baranowski, Sr. and Rose Gattceit. Some of them lived in the Alpine Township mentioned in your post. Catherine/Katherine Baranowski (born 1830, Posen, Prussian Poland), Martin’s sister, married William Tennes about 1857. Was William a sibling of Joseph?

She had three brothers that lived in the Saginaw, Michigan area in their later years.

William Read Shelby passed away 14 Nov 1930, Grand Rapids, MI. His son Cass Knight Shelby, died at the age of 94 in March 1964, in Hollidaysburg, Baker Co, PA. Cass spent the better part of 70 years researching the SHELBY family.. Cass seems to become by SHELBY GURU :-) I have spent the last 30 years as fascinated with the Shelby's as Cass was. I have copies of much of Cass' research papers, and always on the look out for more. I also publish a quarterly newsletter THE SHELBY EXCHANGE. My husband is a descendant of Isaac Shelby, the first Gov of KY. Dispite my efforts, I have yet to find any of the descendants of this family. Judy Trolinger
