Hey, I noticed you're looking for Ezra Reed stuff, and I couldn't tell you where, but I am certain -- while researching Kent County historical resources -- that I read a newspaper article about two descendants of Ezra Reed who are compiling information on the family's role in the area. You might want to try a periodicals search at the library or ask one of the local history librarians find you. It must have been in one of the Grand Rapids papers. I believe it was two female descendants who were doing the work. Also, could this be the same Ezra Reed? http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/queries7b.html REED/LAWRENCE: Seeking information on Ezra REED s/o Elijah Reed & Esther BATES, born in Danube, Herkimer Cty, NY 3 Mar 1800. Ezra married Catherine Lawrence d/o John Lawrence and Elesabeth MILLER in Oppenheim, Montgomery Cty, NY on 8 Feb 1824. Other members of Reed family found in Herkimer Cty include: Porter Reed and wife Polly DELONG, and Lewis Reed with wife Hannah RANDALL and children. I would be interested in exchanging information on these families and finding out more about their lives while in Herkimer & Montgomery Counties before removing to Michigan. Thanks. Kathy Ainsworth. aquilla@wingsbbs.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikent/cemeteries/grandrapids/fulton/dar/r.html According to our Fulton Street Cemetery transcription, Ezra Reed was born Mar. 3, 1800 and died June 17, 1888. Good luck. ~jen ===== Jennifer Godwin jengod@yahoo.com | 3233635279@mobile.att.net "Sell your dollars because America will be finished soon!" The correct name of the large cemetery bisected by Hall Street and running along Eastern Avenue is Oak Hill Cemetery. Hello Ron, I have some links that will show some of Michigan county borders - according to the maps on the Kent County Rootsweb site - http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikent/maps/#historic - - there are also contemporary maps that will geiv you a good idea of where everything is located. In 1818 most of Michigan was Michilimackinac County.... how things change! http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikent/maps/1818MIcounties.gif Looks like it would have been in Cass county in the 1830 map on that site http://www.rootsweb.com/~mikent/maps/1830MIcounties.gif I found these to be very helpful tools and I hope you have sucess with them also!
