Hello, Since George M. HOLLISTER died in WWI - the following information may be of interest to you - You can write to the National Archives to obtain information from the World War I Burial Case Files. A person who died in WWI would have records in these files. The address the you can write to is: National Archives 700 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington, DC 20408 ATTN: Old Military Records - RG 92 Request the World War I Burial Case Files for the individual that you are interested in and if possible, provide all the following information: Name Date of Birth Place of Residence (before enlisting in the military) Date of Death Branch of Service Date of Enlistment Place of Enlistment Any information that you might have regarding the company, group, etc. to which the person was assigned. Even if you don't have all this information, it is worth sending in what you do have - they might be able to find the files. The files I received contained a wealth of information: a physical description of the person, where the person was buried, how the person died, what battle the person died in, when the person was removed from the war grave and sent to America for burial in a family cemetery and some of the correspondence between the Army and the family. - Denise On Wed, 27 Mar 2002 12:47:40 -0800 (PST) Jennifer Godwin <jengod@yahoo.com> writes: > Dear All, > > I was hoping someone in Grand Rapids might be able to > look up an obituary for me. Dear All, I was hoping someone in Grand Rapids might be able to look up an obituary for me. This guy isn't one of my relatives, but I've sort of become fond of him anyway... George M. HOLLISTER, killed in the Great War at age 22 on 12 OCT 1918 near Cumel, Bois-De-Fort, Dept. of the Meuse, France. I'm not sure if his obit would appear in the paper at all, or how long it would take for the news to reach his family, but I'd love to see what the GR papers had to say about the him. You can read more about his life and death here: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=hollistermcbundy&id=I9 Thank you very much. ~jen ===== Jennifer Godwin | http://www.jengod.com/ jengod@yahoo.com | 3233635279@mobile.att.net "It is not what we have that will make us a great nation; it is the way in which we use it." There were 3 of us working on this Reed line, Kathy Ainsworth was one of them, and Lynn Shackelford was another. Lynn hasn't been doing genealogy and I haven't heard from Kathy lately. As far as I know, none of us had any pictures of Ezra. He moved to Muskegon. His brother Lewis is my direct ancestor, and I've seen somewhere that he may have been sheriff also, although I don't have proof. Since the query that Kathy wrote, we discovered that Ezra actually married Catherine Staring, not Catherine Lawrence. Dereka Seigel

I'm guessing there may be Kipp descendants of theirs still in the Grand Rapids area, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help! Scott (Near Oakland, CA)
