    3. Excerpt from the History of Wyoming Co., NY "The first frame tavern with barn, barroom, ballroom, and beds was erected and installed at Covington Centre by DANIEL BALCOM in 1817. There pleasure seekers "tripped the light fantastic toe" in rather heavy boots while on Sunday, in the same assembly room, Elders William True, Milard and Badger exhorted sinners to repentance. Daniel Balcom was succeeded by James Norris, brother of Mark, in the tavern. " (James Norris was my ancestor) He resided in the town of Covington, Genesee Co., NY which is now part of Wyoming Co.

    1. [MIKENT] Oesterle (Germany/Grand Rapids)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Oesterle/Mueller Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kFB.2ACE/4264 Message Board Post: Am looking for any information about Johann Rudolph von Oesterle (c. 1770-1858 of Edelweiler, Germany, and later of Pfalzgrafenweiler, Freudenstadt, Wurtenberg). Am trying to connect him to a Baron Rudolph von Oesterle (d. about 1745-1750 in Wurtenberg). The Baron apparently had two sons: one son, an officer in the King's Army in Wurtenberg, came to US about 1742, landing in New York or Philadelphia; the other son came to America for some years but returned to Wurtenberg upon the death of his father, the Baron. My Johann Rudolph is probably the Baron's grandson but I don't have the connection. My immigrant ancestor is Johann's grandson, Frederick Oesterle (b. 1831-33 in Wurtenberg, d. 1891 in Grand Rapids, MI). Here's what I have for Johann and his descendants. _________________________________ According to unofficial family record compiled in 1935 by Julia Oesterle Mills (based on information provided by her father, Jacob Oesterle, and her own knowledge): "Von Oesterle family was strongly established in 1200 AD. Baron Rudolph von Oesterle died around 1750. A son was an army officer in the King's Army in Wurtenberg; came to America about 1742, landed at New York or Philadelphia. He married and had children. Do not know dates of birth, deaths, or marriages of descendants. "[Another] son came to America and remained for some years, then returned to Wurtenberg at death of his father about 1745-1750 and remained there." Descendants of Johann Rudolph von Oesterle (probably grandson of Baron Rudolph): Generation No. 1 1. I am looking for his birth grandfather. I am afraid that I do not have much information but I will log what I do have. His name is Rex Hotaling he was born on January 5, 1903 in Edmore Michigan (I believe this is Montcalm County). Rex is the s/o Jon B. Hotaling (b. in Ireland). I believe Jon married a woman named Sara Jane Pelton and Sara was born in Springport Michigan (I believe it is Jackson County). Sara's father was Henry Pelton and I believe he fought in the Civil War. It is my understanding that Rex had a daughter that lived in Kent county and her name was or is June. Please contact me if you can help with this family or point me in the correct direction. Thank you Darlene Vires wicket@klondyke.net

Henry and Nora had three sons: Douglas, Morgan and Philip. Douglas and Morgan died young. I believe Douglas is buried in Kent County (Greenwood Cemetery). I don't know what happened to Morgan. Philip died in CA (San Bernardino County) and is buried in Riverside National Cemetery. Henry died in Kent County 4 Jun 1915 and I don't know where he is buried. Doesn't seem to be with his parents. Nora just sort of disappeared as far as my family was concerned. It says in Henry's death record that he is a widower so perhaps she died before him. Philip, the third son, had two children with his first wife (Marian Wilson) and the children, last I heard, are still living here in Southern CA. If I can be of any help, or you have any info for me, please contact me. Gwyneth
