I did see as I already sent my last email, that that was not who I thought it was - sorry about that. I should have read on before I jumped to conclusions. I realize, now, who you are. Either you and I have crossed paths before or you have with another Wynant relation that I am working with - Shirley. I have a note in my book to contact you regarding this very family - Elizabeth in particular. I was under the impression that you are related to her line. How do you fit in the Wynant/Winant line? Thank you for your time! Barb C.

Mary, I would write to the cemetery and ask about Interment Records for him. I think I would also write to the county he died in for a death record search. There may also be an obituary in a local paper-so the library is another option. If all of this fails, send to the NARA for a copy of his pension file. It will give the date of death (usually) to show when and why they terminated benefits. If this fails and he had a surviving widow, send for the widow's pension file application. Hope this helps. Pam

Dart, is buried in Elmwood cemetery in Cedar Springs, Mi.(Kent County). I sent a letter asking if they had any information on his date of buriel. There are no dates on his headstone, it just reads Co. G 54th OH Inf. They assumed that he died in the Civil War and said that their records don't go back that far. My mistake not telling them that he died between 1888 and 1910. So, if I write them again, is it probable that they would have records for those years? Aren't deaths supposed to be recorded by the township and cemetery? Where are the records kept? Mary
