Deb, Turner Ave. lies in what was originally Walker Township. However, the part which had houses has been within Grand Rapids city boundaries since before 1906. The southernmost portion has been in Grand Rapids for even longer. However, the northern part of Turner Ave is STILL within the boundaries of Walker Twp. (known as Walker City since the 1960's). The borderline is Nason Ave. Anything north of Nason has always been in Walker. So, I would need to know whether you were looking for a specific house address or land that had no houses (and an approximate year). Hope this helps, Suzanne Carpenter in Kent county MI
Turner Ave. runs in the city of Grand Rapids, and goes into the city of Walker. When the last portion of the township was incorporated as the city of Walker, the township ceased to exist. I think the original township was also named Walker. If you are looking for old records, try the name Walker Township. Ralph Veenstra

Hi, Need some help on finding the township that Turner Ave. NW is in. Can someone help. Nearest cross streets are Leonard St. NW & 11th St. NW (west side of Grand Rapids). Hope someone can help? Thanks So Much, Deb McKee
There are no obits from the Kent County Death Cetificate Index. It is an index which gives the name of the deceased, his date of birth, date of death, and the death certificate number. They are in alphabetical order by year of death I believe. I did do some obit lookups and happened to check the index, also, so I put the information at the end of the obits I looked up. Pam
Well, I just went to Ancestry.com, typed in Martha Foord on a search, and it pulled up 12 hits on world trees...one of them married to a Peter Browne, in Massachussetts in the 1600's. The person who submitted the tree has their email address posted. But seriously...check into the possibility of connections of your own also. Kathy in MO
Well, if it was in your mother-in-law's house, and was a family bible, were they relatives of hers? If you're unsure, a little checking into her parent's/grandparent's names, etc., would be well worth the while. If not, is there anyone else around who may know how she came by the bible? I happen to have a family bible myself, given to me by a cousin, that belonged to my grandfather's 3rd cousin's mother's mother! It has been passed down and passed down, and now it is mine (yay!) If you are doing genealogy yourself, you may want to hang onto this to determine whether or not those are your husband's relative's names you are looking at! You may not see a link right now, but who knows down the road? Good luck! Kathy in MO
Hello everyone! A while back a kind person posted a SEDOR obituary, but when I tried to Email them back, it came back to me as "undeliverable". The obit was for a Mrs. Alexandria SEDOR, and she is (was) related to me. My maiden name is SIDOR, and my grandparents emigrated from Lithuania around 1890. I sure would appreciate hearing from that person, just to say "thanks" and to see if they might have any new info about the SIDOR name! Thank you... Mary Sidor Ryon Grand Rapids, MI
