Taylor b) 1810 and married in Mecklenberg Co. Va. on Dec. 4, 1830. The couple had children: William J. , James T., Lewis D. , Mary E., and Edwin or Edward. I have hit a brick wall. I can't find the parentage of William..Nothing I have found has a parents name on it...The couple moved to Henrico, Co., Va. somewhere between 1840 and 1850. They are first shown on the 1850 cencus in Henrico. Any info you have would be great. Thanks Pat

Martjen Wiebes Feenstra was born 15 Apr 1825 in Oudemirdum - Gaasterland, Friesland to Wiebe Douwes Feenstra and Grietje Robijns de Jong. She married Gerrit Jannes van Wijk on 10 Jun 1849 in Lemsterland, Friesland. They had several children and emigrated between 1862 and 1870, since they appear in the 1870 Census in Grand Rapids (Gerit, Maggie, Mary, Maggie, William van Wijks; plus Jacob Wierde -- Jacob was Mary's new husband). I have more on my Veenstra/Feenstra ancestry at: http://members.aol.com/WWJohnston/Grietje-van-Wijk-Ancestors.htm So if this ties into your line, I am interested to know.

Kortlander, born 18 July 1887, died Grand Rapids May 1980, an extraordinarily wonderful person and piano teacher, perhaps a niece of Wiliam? She lived at 614 Cherry Street. I know she had a brother Max Kortlander, also a gifted musician, much involved in Tin Pan Alley in the early days, and inventor and maker of device that simulated a player piano, but this extending above the keyboard to strike the individual keys instead of working internally. Then there was a Joseph Kortlander born 16 Aug 1884 and died in Grand Rapids Sept 1967who was involved in real estate and insurance and lived in 1930 (phone book) at 341 Garfield., perhaps another brother. Then in the 1930 phone book of Grand Rapids there is also A. H. Kortlander residing 333 College Ave., no doubt related. I'd be interested in any further information on the Kortlanders of Grand Rapids. Thomas Roderick Bar Harbor, Maine

Aug. 18th, 1888 d. June 15th, 1968. On a recent visit to Mi. I found on his death certificate his mother was Eva I and father Henry Benton. I had uncles Charley and Oscar. My father served in WWI (Navy) and he was commited to VA hospital in Battle Creek Mi. in 1934, where he spent the remainder of his life. I found the tombstone of Eva in Lakeview Cemetery, but nothing to indicate Henry was buried there also. I was borned Dec. 23, 1934 a month after my father entered the hospital. Therefore I knew very little of the Benton family. I have always wanted to find out about the Benton side, but seemed to never find the time. If you feel we make a connection, please e-mail and I will share what I have. Regards Jack Benton

In other words, Adriana Bogers has died and he has now remarried. The words actually mean: "Bridegroom widower (wdnr is abbrev. for "weduwnaar" which means widower) of Adriana Bogers". Isn't that website wonderful? I do not speak Dutch myself, but I bought myself a Dutch-English and English-Dutch Dictionary at Barnes and Noble. It has been of great help to me!
