Forrest Williams is not a Dutch name. Was he Catholic? There was only one Dutch Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, St. Joseph near Grandville Avenue. This was a poor, poorly educated laborer neighborhood of very early Dutch settlers in Grand Rapids. . And how did a Dutch boy from Grand Rapids meet a Catholic girl from Detroit? You are just assuming he was married? Back then a Dutch protestant boy with a Catholic girl would have been unacceptable as it was even up to Vatican II in 1968. A protestant/Catholic marriage would have been opposed. You seem to be making some unclear assumptions.

He was of Am-Dutch descent. There are several F.W. in the Grand Rapids area.I don't want to interfere with a family as I had a good one of my own, but just need closure. Thankyou, Susan (TX.)

Now the Coopersville Observer didn't start until 1880. Question. Were there any other 1877 local newspapers that would have published her obituary? Muskegon Chronicle? Grand Haven Tribune?
