Age 75 Of Richland Went to be with the Lord, April 10, 2008 following an extended illness. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 30, 1933. He was son of Ward and Earleen (Anderson) McCain. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Paratrooper in the Korean War. He graduated from Western Michigan University where he met his wife of 51 years, Judith (Purcell) and was married in August of 1956. Surviving are his wife Judy, two children; son Michael, wife Tytins from Alma, Arkansas, daughter Susan Porter and John Porter of Richland, Michigan. Sisters Marilyn (Carl) Trano; Grace (William) Porter of Livona, MI and several nieces, nephews, and six grandchildren, he especially loved his six grandchildren. They were a true highlight and joy in his life. He was a realtor for most of his career in the Kalamazoo area and was involved in community service. He was a life member of the Kalamazoo Board of Realtors, Kalamazoo Civil Air Patrol and member of the Gull Lake Area Rotary Club. As a g! raduate of WMU he became involved with several campus activities affiliations. He was a man of great faith and belief in God, member of Calvary Bible Church of Kalamazoo and who served in leadership roles with other religious organizations in the community. Jim was known by many for his sense of humor and jovial nature. He was always quick with a smile and a positive attitude which he shared with many in need. His favorite saying was "Never a problem, always an opportunity." He loved to boat and sail. When younger he was an avid water skier. He truly enjoyed any water related activities and spent many days enjoying time with his family and friends on Gull Lake in Richland. He was a man of great moral character and will be truly missed. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Family graveside services and interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:30 AM. A Memorial Service will follow Tuesday afternoon at 2! :00 PM at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Road in Kalamazoo. Pastor Bryan Craddock officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church, Gull Lake Area Rotary, or charity of choice. Arrangements by REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S.
