Betty was born on September 18, 1924 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Cecil and Vivian Lucile (Jones) Gray. Betty graduated in 1942 from Kalamazoo Central High School. Betty was a life member of the Athens Mecwarf Ladies Auxiliary V.F. W. Post 5319. She won a special award for selling the most Buddy Poppies in the whole area in 1990. She was very proud of this plaque and award. Betty was President of the Ladies Auxiliary for six years. She was preceded in death by her husband Horace in June of 1987 and her daughter Betty Louise Thompson in November of 2006. Betty is survived by five remaining children, Jo Bailey of Fulton, MI, Donald Bannister of Climax, MI, Anne Austin of The Rock, GA, Terri Lynn Cooker of Alamo, MI, Angus E. Bradt III of Fulton, MI; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens where the family will be present from 4-6 P! M on Saturday, April 5, 2008 with a service to follow at 6 PM with Chaplain Barbara Van Eck, officiating. Memorials in Betty's memory may be directed to the Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
