John was born October 23, 1915 in Sherwood, MI, the son of Anna (Bicknell) and John T. Northrop. He was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo where he graduated from St. Augustine High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the Panama Canal Zone and subsequently worked as a carpenter. He was an avid deer hunter and a fan of Notre Dame football. He married Dorothy Coash in 1949 and had four children, John Northrop of Jackson, Joseph Northrop and Anne Marie (Mark) Mason of College Station, Texas and Paula (Arthur) Bolder of Saline, Michigan. He is survived by his children and by one brother, Charles; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings, Glenn, Joseph, Vincent, Paul and Patricia. Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge- 343-6156 where a Rosary will be recited at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 14, 2008 at St. Augustine Cathedral. Fr. James Richardson, celebrant. Interment will be at 1:30 PM at Ft.
