After a long and courageous battle with lung disease, Shirley D. Carroll, 76, of Holland, OH, passed away peacefully in her home with Hospice of N.W. Ohio aide, Vicky, her daughter, Diane and cat "Girlie", at her side. Shirley was born at home in Chicago, IL, on September 7, 1931 to Macon Huston and Genevieve (Bunnegar) Taylor (both deceased). She had one older sister, Gloria (Bill) Adkins of Burbank, IL, and two younger brothers, Robert (Nancy) Taylor of Nicholson, GA and Kenneth Taylor who died April 18, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott L. Austin, December 11, 1976 and her first husband, Marvin L. Austin on November 20, 2005. Surviving Shirley are daughters, Diane Karen (Timmermans) O'Connor of Holland, OH and Deborah J. Austin of Plymouth, MI; grandchildren, Christi (Marc) Wilson of Petosky, MI, Joshua (Maureen) Timmermans of Rossford, OH, Matthew (ShyAnn) Timmermans of Maumee, OH and Shannon Fill of Union City, MI; great-grandchildren, Emily, Drew, K! aitlin, Dylan, Levi, and Harley; nieces and nephews, Wendy Taylor (GA), Cory Taylor (MS), Pamela (Greg) Stahl (IL), Craig and Norm Adkins (IL), Keith Taylor and Sara Thomas (AZ). Shirley served as a union steward at Krogers, for 10 years, a realtor in Portage, MI, for the Kalamazoo County Board of Real Estate, and a merchandiser for McCormick Spice Co. After retiring in 1991, at the age of 68, due to a heart attack. Shirley moved to Toledo, OH area to be closer to her daughters. She was an alumna of Lawton High School and a graduate of Davis Business College. Graveside services will be held Sat., April 19, 2008, at 3 PM in Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomingdale, MI, with Rev. Robert Punfrey officiating. Immediately following will be an "Italian Feast" dinner at La Cantine Restaurant, in Paw Paw, for close friends and relatives. We invite you to meet us at the Bistro Restaurant (across from the Strand Theater) in Paw Paw, at 2 PM for the funeral procession to the cemetery. A speci! al thank you to Hospice of N.W. OH, Per Diem Healthcare, Dr. Kris, Dr. Ali, University of Toledo Medical Center Cardiology, Margaret Weisenberger, Ramesh Tamby, Fr. Tom, and Concord Care Center of Toledo, for their patience and wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the American Lung Association or Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Toledo, OH.
