Jeanne was born January 13, 1923 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Cecil and Lucille Maxson. She lived most of her life in Galesburg. Jeanne attended Alma College and graduated from Western Michigan University. She taught elementary school in Virginia. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Christian Science Church. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Wesley "Van"; son, Michael VanNess; stepdaughter, Sally Allen; sister, Janet Kerbs and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1 PM Friday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 22 S. Church St., Galesburg. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Galesburg Memorial Library. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 3/27/2008.
