Age 60 Of Portage Passed away on April 2, 2008 at Bronson Hospital. Mari was born on January 12, 1948 in Muskegon, MI the daughter of the late William and Lucille (Hesse) VanderWeg. Mari was united in marriage with Ernest Schmidt, Jr. on November 14, 1969. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a nurse at Bronson Hospital, retiring in 1997. Her family was most important to her. Mari was an avid sports fan especially of U of M. Surviving is her husband, Ernest to whom she was married for 38 years; two children, Brian and Renee Schmidt both of Kalamazoo; two brothers, James (Marcia) VanderWeg and Marvin (Susan) VanderWeg; two sisters, Jeanne (Norman) Pugh and Laurel VanderWeg; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge- 343-6156 where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Reverend Richard Welscott officiating. Private interment will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Ft.
