He died January 2, 2010 at home with his family. He is survived by Patricia Myers, his wife of 62 years; as well as his children Christine (Leon) Bartholomew, Allen (Sandee) Penney, Brad (Sue) Penney, and Danny (Kathy) Penney; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers Robert (Lori) Penney, Orlin (Judy) Penney, and sister Joyce Engle. His brother Gerald Penney preceded him in death. Don was a dairy farmer who owned and operated Penney Farms since 1962. Prior to farming, he built houses in the Kalamazoo area with Penney Brothers and was a master plumber. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and RVing. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held for friends and family on Tuesday, January 5th, from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Fulton Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 14108 W Avenue in Fulton, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Borgess ! Hospice and the National Parkinson Foundation.
