Of Kalamazoo Leora passed away January 10, 2010 at her residence at Park Place Living Centre. She was born June 28, 1916 in Detroit, the daughter of Ernest and Mary Ellen (Drury) Whitlock. Leora worked at the State Hospital for 25 years and then worked subbing in the cafeteria for the Kalamazoo Public schools for 20 years. She was preceded in death by one son, David; a brother, Carl; and one sister, Ernesteen. Survivors includes five children: Sharon (Robert) Philipp, Evelyn (Larry) Freemire, Diane (John) Diestler, Mary (Jerry) Freemire, and Harvey (Susan) Kuiper; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Thursday 4-7 PM at the Life Story Funeral Home, Betzler-Kalamazoo; 6080 Stadium Dr., 375-2900, where a service to celebrate her life will be held Friday 11 AM. Following the service, food and fellowship will be shared in the Life Story Center.
