She was born September 24, 1936, in New York, NY, a daughter of Gerard and Marie (Reiba) Keidel. Valerie was an Assistant Professor of Technical Writing at Western Michigan University before retiring. In May of 1966 Valerie was united in marriage with Anthony Wescott who preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her father. Surviving are three children, Eric (Christine) Wescott, Gerard (Tanya) Wescott and Karla Wescott; her mother, Marie Keidel; a brother, Gerard (Nancy) Keidel; a sister, Lynn (Michael) Gulick; and nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
