"Penny" Of Kalamazoo Went home to be at rest with the Lord Sunday, December 27, 2009 at home after a short illness. Mrs. Harley was born March 12, 1950 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mrs. Lemonia Smith-Grear and the late Sammy Gaston. Mrs. Harley was baptized in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church as a youth, where she attended and served in the Trinity Choir and attended Sunday School. Mrs. Harley was employed by MLK-Westwood for over 15 years, she has a special love for her "kids". Mrs. Harley leaves behind precious memories in the hearts of her husband Pastor Maurice A. Harley, (Pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, MI.); a step-son Marcus of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers: James (Cherrille) Smith of Kalamazoo, and Henry (Evora) Crockrell of Grand Rapids, MI.; five sisters: Sandra Mitchell, Sharon Smith, Claudia Smith all of Kalamazoo, Alice Holland of Detroit, MI., Rosemary Jackson of Washington, DC., and other siblings. She also leaves behind an uncle Rev. Ge! orge Dunigan of Flint, MI.; five aunts: Mrs. Maudine Coleman, Mrs. Georgia Julian, Mrs. Irma Saunders, and Mrs. Janice Ezell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her "baby" Bullett. Mrs. Harley was preceded in death by her parents, two sister, grandparents, three aunts, and several cousins. Visitation will be held (tomorrow) Thursday, December 31, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Addis Moore officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park North.
