He was born April 13, 1928 in Den Andel, The Netherlands, the son of Maarten and Johanna (Ronda) Doornbos. In 1951 he was united in marriage to Jacoba Hoexum. He immigrated to The United States in 1956, where he lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan with his family and worked for Zurn Industries for over 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening andtraveling throughout the world. He was devoted to the Lord and his family and will be dearly missed. Preceding him in death are his wife, Jacoba in 1973 and granddaughter, Keriann McLain in November of 2009. Surviving are his three daughters,Johanna (Mike) Thompson of Mattawan, Wilma (Pat) McLain of Three Rivers, and Barbara (Tom) Ross of Orlando, Florida; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters and their families in The Netherlands. A special thank-you to the staff of Tendercare Westwood and Hospice Care of Southwe! st Michigan. Family and friends will gather to remember Willem and honor his life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16 at Centerpoint Church (formerly Third Reformed), 2345 N. 10th Street, with Rev. Darwin VanderWal officiating.
