Mary Lou was born October 8, 1918, in Decatur, AL, the daughter of James and Trannie (Pitt) Washburn and has been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1954. She was a longtime member of First Free Will Baptist Church. The most important part of Mary Lou's life was her family and her church. On July 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to Roy Dean Roberts who preceded her in death on December 31, 1983. Also preceding her in death was a son, Jerry. Surviving are her children, Jim (Mary Lou) Roberts of Kalamazoo, Judy (Jim) Moulthrop of Paw Paw, Pat (Bob) Werner of Kalamazoo and Tom Roberts of Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Katie Ratliff of Kalamazoo, John (Mildred) Washburn and Eunice (Fletcher) Hill all of Decatur, AL; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3 PM at First Free Will Baptist Church (630 Moline St.) where funeral s! ervices will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday. A private burial will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Mary Lou's memory may be directed to First Free Will Baptist Church or West Michigan Cancer Center.
