Roy was born March 23, 1922 in Coldwater, Michigan son of Garry and Jesse Nichols. He was raised on the family farm with his seven siblings. He attended Michigan State College but left early to joined the army in 1942 during WWII. While being discharged in 1945 he met his future bride, Hilda Midkiff. They were married on August 10, 1947. He was employed by Peters Construction Company. In 1954 Roy bought Peters from Al Peters. He retained ownership until 1990 when he retired. Roy and Hilda lived in Galesburg for 30 years where they raised their four daughters. Later they moved to Vicksburg where Roy had a 100 acres to move dirt, drive his tractors, and keep up his beautiful ponds. He loved fixing things and collected old engines. For 35 years they spent their winters boating and fishing in Bokeelia, Florida. Surviving are his wife, Hilda, and four daughters, Sharon Nichols of Lansing, MI, Suzanna Falk (Roger) of Portage, MI, Sandy Hunter (Craig! ) of Kalamazoo, MI, Becky Nichols of Chandler, AZ. Roy and Hilda have 11 grandchildren Brian, Bob, Jenny and Kim Hale; Jake and Emily Falk; Gary, Cassie, and Dianna Hunter; Sam and Olivia Nichols and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers Richard of TX, Arthur of AR, Russell of MI. No formal memorial service will be held. The family asks that any donations be made to Hospice.
