Of Portage Entered her eternal home on December 26, 2009 while at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Lois Doreen Wilkinson was born in Cheltenham, Ontario, Canada on June 2, 1932, to George and Myrtle (Macdonald) Wilkinson. She was married to Nick Asma on January 6, 1975. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Margaret, a 9 year old brother Donald, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Groenewegen and Jacoba DenHartigh. She is survived by her husband, Nick and two sisters, Audrey (Patrick) Greaves of Newmarket, Ontario, Canada and Carol (James) Lyons of Cheltenham, Ontario, Canada; in laws, Gre Visscher of The Netherlands, Neil (Dinah) Asma of Florida, John (Donna) Asma of Kalamazoo, Marianne (Bert) VandenTop of Grand Rapids, Janie (Charles) Quist of Byron Center, Albert (Mary) Asma of Kalamazoo and Jacob (Nancy) Asma of Virginia; many nieces and nephews and special friends. Lois was an elementary school teacher and library supervisor in Peel County in Ontario. She was a member of T! hird Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo where she initiated the Coffee Break Ministry. She also served as a deaconess and deacon. Her Godly life was an inspiration to us all. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Third Christian Reformed Church 2400 Winchell Ave. with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Baker and the Rev. Meg Jenista officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church with private interment at Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Lois's name may be made to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Scleroderma Research.
