Of Des Moines, IA Formerly of Kalamazoo Passed away December 26, 2009 in Des Moines, IA. Christine was born March 23, 1924 in Pinconning, MI, a daughter of Harry and Alice Peters. Until the age of 17, she lived on the Isabella Indian Reservation in Mt. Pleasant and later moved to Lansing and then to Mattawan in 1950. She was employed for 35 years at Welch Foods, Inc. in Lawton. Christine was a former member of the Grace Missionary Church in Mattawan until she moved to Des Moines to be with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger H. Ambs in 1989 and by a son Daniel Ambs. Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Roger, Jr. and Sandra Ambs and Ralph and Alison Ambs, all of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. with the Rev. Dan Bungee of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Des Moines, IA officiating. Friends may meet the family beginning at 12 Noon Wednesday at! the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Texas Township. Memorial contributions in Christine's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association .
