(Reed) Of Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday afternoon December 17, 2009. Donna was born August 10, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa and was adopted by Bill and Bernice Smith. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1958, coming from Lake City, MN. Donna was employed as an LPN for 45 years before retiring. She later worked as a floral merchandiser for Masterpiece and Elzinga Greenhouses. She was also very involved in local animal rescue programs. Donna was preceded in death by her adopted parents; her first husband, Leslie Reed in 2008; her second husband, Homer VerSluis; and two brothers, Donald and Clyde. She is survived by two children, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Smith of Charlotte, NC and Judy Reed of Kalamazoo; three grandchildren, Morgen Smith of North Carolina, and Troy and Cody VerSluis both of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday. Private interment will! be in Vicksburg Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the S.P.C.A. www.langelands.com. 343-1508.
