Of Portage Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence after a17 year battle with Carcinoid Cancer. Nancy was born December 9, 1956 in Grand Haven, MI, a daughter of Richard and Jean (Cislewicz) Johnson. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and was employed for several years as an interior designer for DeKorne Ethan Allen and later worked at the Hallmark Store. Nancy was an active member of the Portage First United Methodist Church where she served as a Trustee, was a Kid's Hope Mentor and a member of the Women's Bible Study. She was also active with the Community Bible Study and the Bible Study Fellowship. Nancy enjoyed crafts, collectibles, sewing and hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Johnson and by a sister, Laura Broersma. On June 15, 1985, she was married to James A. Pieper, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy E. Pieper of Portage; her father, Richard Johnson of Muskegon; two brothers, George (Char) Johnson and Kenneth (Cassie) Johnson, all of Muskegon;sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Maureen (Mark) Fitzgerald of Ann Arbor, Richard (Laura) Pieper of Mason, OH, Carol (Mark) Troutman of North Carolina and Marcia Grennan of Portage; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock on Thursday at the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Ave. with Pastor Greg Wood officiating. Private interment in Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, MI. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926! S. 9th St. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
