Joseph was born in Vincennes, IN on September 23, 1925 to Joseph and Philomena (Adams) Hageman. He was orphaned at a very young age and spent most of his youth living with many different relatives in Kalamazoo and Vincennes. He went to St. Augustine School while in Kalamazoo and graduated from Vincennes Central High School in 1943. Joseph enlisted in the Navy during WWII and was deployed in the South Pacific on an LST until he returned to San Francisco when the war ended. He moved back to Kalamazoo where he married Arlene Ludwig on September 6, 1947. He worked for KVP, Culligan Water Conditioning and Hageman Water Conditioning. He was a founding member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment where he was very involved. He was an Usher and Counter and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He was also involved in school at St. Ambrose and many social activities. He and Arlene enjoyed being active members of the "Parchment Trotters" and lo! ved all the interesting places the group traveled. He is also a 4th Degree Member of Knight of Columbus 1616 and Past Grand Knight. He loved cooking there for First Friday lunches, Lenten Fish Fries and other occasions. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brothers, Fred, Bernie and Meinard and his wife Arlene on February 7, 2007. He is survived by his children, Kathy Hageman, Thomas Hageman, Timothy (Terry) Hageman, Daniel Hageman and Jolene Danoski all of Kalamazoo and his grandchildren, Levi Danoski of Portage, Kyle (Taylor) Hageman of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Timothy Hageman, Jr., Georganne Hageman, MaryJo Newnum, Annie Newnum and A.J. Newnum all of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, E. Lloyd (Roslyn) Ludwig and sister-in-law, Audrey Ludwig and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home 2300 East G. Ave. (269) 349-7735 Where a Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Fr. James O'Leary Celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Shepard's Center, St. Ambrose Food Lift, Hospice of S.W. Michigan or charity of your choice.
