Ruby was born on November 17, 1914 in Covert, MI the daughter of William and Edith Iva (Lang) Parker. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. While Ruby was employed by the Kalamazoo Stove and Furnace Company in 1943, she was instrumental in the improvement of manufacturing flares for the war effort. The military was willing to pay her for her invention, but she donated her idea to them. She was honored in patriotic program which also show cased the slogan "We Light The Way". Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Richard P. Docsa in 2009. Ruby is survived by three daughters Edith V. Pontius, Charlene (Jacob) Dykehouse and Nancy (Terry) Caro; a daughter-in-law Ryann Docsa; ten grandchildren Sharon Pontius, Debra Smith, David Pontius, Steve Docsa, Eric Docsa, Jennifer Docsa, Karen Nakken, Christine Wolbers, Scott Caro and Jena Caro; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Lavon (Travis) Jo! hnson and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6-8 PM at PARCHMENT-REDMOND Funeral Home 2300 East G Ave.- 349-7735 Where a Scripture Service will be held Wednesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment. Fr. James O'Leary Celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
