He had family, so I presume that perhaps they simply were not able to care for him because of his condition. One of the census supplemental tables indicated "dementia", and the records indicate that he must have been admitted some where in the mid 1870s. I was interested in finding out more, and was wondering if the court records of that period might contain something. I doubt that the Institutions records would even be available.
