Doug was born in Kalamazoo, on February 5, 1958, the son of the late Paul and Cleo (Scheiner) Deaner. He was a loving and devoted family man. He had a passion for the outdoors and when not working could be found hunting, fishing, or enjoying a quiet stroll through the woods. He loved animals, especially his faithful retriever, Lacey. Doug was a hard worker, who served as a department manager for K-Mart for over 25 years. On March 26, 1982, he married the love of his life, his wife Cindy (Slayton) who survives. Doug was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Justin; a brother, Kurt (Nancy) Deaner; a sister, Nancy (Ken) Brightwell; mother and father in-law, Gil (Gloria) Slayton; a sister-in-law, Lisa Melville; brother-in-law, Troy (Jennifer) Slayton; many nieces, nephews and great friends. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Craig and Bill Dean! er; and a sister, Christine Johnson. A service to celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Don DeYoung officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society, or the SPCA, envelopes available at the funeral home. JOLDERSMA & KLEIN 917 S.
