Age 85 Of Portage On Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 at 1:30 AM, loving husband and father passed comfortably into the next phase of Life's journey. Born Howard Leroy Case on April 27th, 1925 in Walker, MN and at the age of 6 weeks moved with his family to Kingsford, MI where he grew up. In childhood Howard lost his brother, Lyle and sister, Laura. After his tour of service in the US Navy during WWII, Howard returned to Kingsford and he would "hang out" at the local Ice Cream Parlor, the "Bon Ton Café" where, fortunately for us all, he met our mother, Mary Ann Mottes. The two of them married on March 1st, 1947. Over the next 63 years these two would see; the birth of five children, Howard would do another tour of service in Korea, the passing of their two oldest children, Lawrence Earl Case and Lynn Marie Case-Schultz, the passing of his brother, Vern, and his sister, Helen (Case) De Vore, and the recent passing of his sister-in-law, Lynae (Froberg) Case. Howard and Mary Ann would grow togethe! r from U.P. life in the 50's and 60's to a 20 year career that impacted the lives of working people throughout SW Michigan in his role as a State Labor Mediator. Upon his retirement the Kalamazoo Gazette devoted a whole page to him with the headline "Mr. Integrity Calls it Quits". Howard Leroy Case passed into the next phase with his Pride and Integrity in tact! We will miss you until we meet again and love you forever. Howard is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Mottes) Case; one daughter, Lori (Case) Stanaszek, son-in-law, James Stanaszek, two sons, Ray Howard and Jeffrey Alan, daughter-in-law, Dawn (Lincoln) Case; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Dorothy (Case) Makoutz and Marie (Case) Galanter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Westnedge Ave. (269) 343-6156 A private Interment will take place at Fort Custer Cemetery, Augusta, MI immediately following the Memorial Service.
