He was born on August 4, 1946 in Garden City, MI to Gloria and Raymond Mansfield who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Susan; son, Dean and daughter, Lori Southern; brothers, Roger, Raymond, Guy and sister, Sharon. Deane had a thirst for knowledge and a love of travel. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Consolation shortly after graduating from high school. He graduated from Nazareth College in 1980. He taught Middle School Language Arts in Miami, FL for several years. Deane and Susan adventured to El Salvador where he taught for a year. Their travels took them throughout Europe. They retired to Montana where Deane became a Ranger for the Glacier National Park in the summer, where he found his true calling. His ashes will be spread over the park he loved.
